Many of you are telling us that the river path is becoming increasingly unsafe because of the speed and volume of rental bikes and scooters, which are also left dumped on pavements.

That’s why we’ve been calling for tougher action to keep residents safe.  

As a result, Hammersmith & Fulham Council has now agreed to introduce:  

• Slow Zones: We have secured a commitment from Lime and Forest to create a Slow Zone along the entire Thames Path in H&F, automatically reducing bike speeds.
  
  
• Dedicated parking bays: Are introducing new bays for hired bikes and scooters, and operators will be required to ensure they are parked in those bays rather than blocking avements.
  
  
• A safer alternative route: Improvements to the C34 cycleway are due by the summer, making it a more viable alternative to cycling along the river path. New signage will direct riders away from pedestrian areas.
  
  

Further improvements are also coming and the Council has commissioned a study to explore additional options for improving the river path for all legitimate users. They will be consulting residents including through interactive drop-in workshops.
